“The Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) is a measure of fundamental competencies required by all students to develop their potential and participate positively in society,” stated the Head of the Center for Educational Assessment Management (BP3), Dr. Rahmawati, S.T., M.Ed. The Academic Discussion organized by the Doctoral Program in Educational Research and Evaluation (PEP) focused on competencies being assessed, which include logical and systematic thinking skills, reasoning abilities based on concepts and acquired knowledge, as well as skills in selecting and processing information.

Furthermore, the AKM presents problems in various contexts that students are expected to solve using reading literacy and numeracy competencies. The AKM is also designed to measure competencies in depth rather than mere mastery of content.

There are two competencies assessed through the AKM: Literacy and Numeracy.
The Literacy Assessment aims to measure the ability to understand, use, evaluate, and reflect upon various types of texts to solve problems and to develop individual capacity as global citizens who can contribute productively to society.

Meanwhile, the Numeracy Assessment is intended to measure the ability to think using mathematical concepts, procedures, facts, and tools to solve everyday problems in various contexts relevant to individuals as citizens of Indonesia and the world, Dr. Rahmawati further explained via Zoom Meeting.

During the session, which was attended by students, lecturers, and alumni of the PEP Program, Dr. Rahmawati elaborated that in the AKM, competencies related to literacy and numeracy can be viewed from three aspects: content, cognitive processes, and context.
The AKM question formats include multiple-choice, complex multiple-choice, matching, short answer, and essay questions. The AKM is developed based on competency indicators that form a continuum of learning achievement trajectories.
