Meta-Analysis as a Research Method That Provides a Comprehensive Understanding

The Education Research and Evaluation Laboratory (ERE Lab) collaborated with the Graduate School Student Association (KMSP) and the Graduate School (GS) Alumni Association (IKA) to successfully hold an Introductory Seminar on Meta-Analysis. This occasion was attended by various important figures in the academic community. The seminar was attended by the vice Director of GS UNY, Dr. Sukarno,  M. Hum, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Nasrulloh, M. Or, the chief of ERE Lab, Dr. Widihastuti S. Pd., M.Pd, the Chair of GS Alumni association, Prof. Dr. Samsul Hadi, M. Pd, the Chair of KMSP, all GS study program coordinators, and GS Unit Coordinators along with 125 participants and other committee members.

The event began with a report from the chief of ERE Lab, Dr. Widihastuti S. Pd., M. Pd., who emphasized the importance of meta-analysis as a research method.  Meta-analysis can provide a comprehensive understanding of previous research results. Prof. Dr. Samsul Hadi M. Pd., M. T, as Chair of GS Alumni Association, expressed his appreciation for the synergy between various parties in supporting the development of research competencies among GS students and alumni. Meanwhile, Dr. Sukarno, M. Hum, officially opened the event as a representative of the Director of SPs, expressing his full support for this activity as part of efforts to improve the quality of education and research on campus.

The keynote speaker, Ezi Apino, M.Pd., a doctoral student at ERE study program with a Scopus index of 8, presented an introduction to the concept and application of meta-analysis and its relevance in educational research. Ezi's explanation provided participants with in-depth insights into comprehensive data collection and analysis techniques.

The event will be followed by a two-day intensive workshop led by Dr. Janu Arlinwibowo, M.Pd., and Dr. Syahrul Ramadhan, M.Pd., doctoral ERE alumni who are now working at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). This workshop is designed to deepen participants' understanding of meta-analysis techniques practically. A closing statement from Ezi Apino, M.Pd. emphasized the importance of meta-analysis as a powerful tool for strengthening research results that have a broad impact in various fields of education. This activity is expected to make a significant contribution to the development of research competencies for students and lecturers both within and outside the GS environment.
